Manager, International Business & Public Policy Programs

As one of the most active business organizations in the Americas, COA’s membership consists of 200+ leading international multinational companies representing a broad spectrum of sectors, forming a network that supports efforts to conduct business in Latin America.

COA seeks a Manager for International Business & Public Policy Programs, and leadership engagement for the Miami office. This manager’s responsibility is to plan and execute top-level programs and to develop content that assures optimal engagement of Council of the Americas (COA) corporate members, relevant C-level business leaders, government officials, strategic partners, sponsor companies, community leaders, and other key constituents.

Key Responsibilities

The manager’s key responsibilities are focused on the following areas: 

  • Develop and execute high-level International Business & Public Policy programs engaging leaders from the public and private sectors for programs and initiatives held in Miami for Council of the Americas (COA).
  • Research, engage and confirm top-level speakers and moderators for programs led by COA Miami, organized in the U.S. and throughout Latin America.
  • Support COA Miami leadership by researching top trends in the Latin American regional business community to develop successful programs, initiatives and engage high-profile leaders from the region.
  • Build relationships regionally with C-level executives, corporate communication teams, PR agencies, key government agencies and other key constituents to develop innovative content/programing ideas to meet the needs of COA’s growing corporate membership base and to engage the international business community throughout the Americas. 
  • Negotiate, manage and lead all media partnerships, particularly for the annual COA Symposium and BRAVO Business Awards, as well the relationship with PR agency. 
  • Work internally with COA’s global web/video and PR teams to lead internal communication, website updates, video and social media strategies to promote COA Miami programs & initiatives to our community in the U.S. and Latin America.
  • Write, research and manage all invitations for speakers, nominations for awards, develop talking points for panels, private programs and support all other departments for successful execution of programs.
  • Create marketing materials for all COA Miami-led programs and initiatives including email blasts, event pages, social media assets and more.

Skills and qualifications include:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a track record of success in program development and engaging senior leaders. Experience in public relations and/or client management.
  • Excellent English-language verbal and written communication skills and strong Spanish-language verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Portuguese desired.
  • A strong understanding of the Latin American regional business environment and international affairs. Experience working to develop content for the multinational and multilatina market and/or major events in the region a plus.
  • Experience in managing client relations or consulting experience with the multilatina market and/or multinationals with significant business interests in Latin America.
  • Degree in business, international relations, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
  • Thrives on building relationships to enhance both the content and business sides.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, meeting various deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a team-focused environment.
  • Ability and willingness for domestic and international travel.

This is a full-time position. Employees are currently working a hybrid schedule each week.
