Category Management Intern

SupplyHouse.com, a fast-growing and innovative e-commerce company, is looking for a Category Management Intern to work with our Merchandising Team virtually this summer! This individual will gain hands-on experience and be exposed to the daily functions of working on our private label, Bluefin.

This is a remote-based role within select states in the United States. At this time, we are only able to employ those located in the following states: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

What is Category Management?

The Merchandising Team works to grow sales which increases revenue through a higher number of product sales, assortments, and profits. The team is responsible for understanding the newest product and market trends, and which products can meet the customer's needs while generating profit for the company. These key functions help the company increase sales, improve margin, boost efficiency, and enhance the customer experience.

This position may require travel to our NY office headquarters up to two times during the program for internal meetings and team-building activities. The cost of travel for employees out of the area will be covered by the company. Additionally, our offices are always available for staff to use as much as desired.

Length of Program: Monday, June 3rd, through Friday, August 9th

Internship On-Site Meeting: Thursday, July 25th (required)

Merchandising On-Site Meeting: Tuesday, June 11th, through Thursday, June 13th (optional)

Schedule: Standard business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. EST. However, there is some flexibility as per our Flex-Time Policy.

Salary: $20.00/hour

The Day to Day:

• Engage in lively and collaborative team meetings across multiple departments to brainstorm ideas and develop actionable recaps.
• Explore and analyze our competitors' product offerings to identify exciting opportunities and enhance our own offerings.
• Foster meaningful relationships with our suppliers, collaborating closely on daily requests and fostering a dynamic partnership.
• Keep a close eye on purchase orders to ensure our suppliers are meeting their delivery commitments on time.
• Coordinate factory audits with third-party experts and monitor the outcomes alongside our lead.
• Dive into the world of product development by ordering and evaluating development samples, monitoring feedback as it comes.
• Gather essential SKU data from our suppliers, sharing with team members to assist in refreshing our Product Development Plans (PDPs) promptly.
• Increase overall knowledge of our products, categories, and trends to drive revenue and meet customer needs.

Requirements:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team setting
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly execute assigned tasks
• Excellent organization and time management skills
