Job Description

The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking an Intern to support fiscal monitoring of transportation projects by organizing files, recording metadata, completing data entry, creating documentation, and assessing outstanding actions. This position seeks a detail-oriented and process-minded student able to organize documentation, research previous actions, conduct financial analysis, and implement action plans. Continuing employment opportunities may be available for interns who are successful in this position. Ideal candidates should be able to work at least 25 hours per week while attending school. NCTCOG offices are located in Arlington, Texas.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Entering data and maintaining spreadsheets, contract files, and other information systems
  • Assessing database records to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Performing quality control checks and updating metadata
  • Drafting memos and creating tables
  • Completing checklists and compiling documentation
  • Assisting in the conduct of financial analyses

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word; Adobe and SharePoint experience desired
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to instructions and coordinate with other team members
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Detail oriented, organized, and possess ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines
  • Strong reasoning skills, with the ability to identify data discrepancies
  • Willingness to learn and accept new techniques, integrating new procedures into daily job functions quickly
  • Ability to assess historical actions, interpret communications, compile documentation, and summarize findings

Required Experience

  • Must be attending an accredited college or university during employment. Pursuit of a degree in a related field desired.
  • No work experience required; at least one year of school-related experience desired.

Starting Salary

Minimum of $16.00 per hour
