Lifeguard, Maintenance/Cleaning, Office/Tollbooth, Interpretation/Naturalists, Trail Work

NYS Parks is looking to fill a variety of positions for the upcoming 2024 summer season:

Lifeguarding - overseeing the safety of patrons at beaches and the Keewaydin pool throughout the summer season. This position also requires customer service and light maintenance. Candidates must take and pass a NYS lifeguarding exam.

Maintenance/Cleaning - These positions require cleaning bathrooms, cabins, cottages, and other facilities, maintaining the appearance of the park by mowing, weed eating, picking up garbage, painting, light gardening, customer service, etc. Driver's licenses are required to operate all motor vehicles.

Tollbooth/Office - Requires checking in patrons through the NYS Reservation system, answering phones, providing customer service, and working directly with patrons and park employees. Employees will need to be able to answer questions about visiting the surrounding area and facilities. Collecting money for camping and day use fees, tracking park attendance, and other paperwork abilities are required. 

Interpretation/Naturalist - These positions are available at our Nature Centers and Sackets Harbor Battlefield. Employees may be responsible for giving guided tours through facilities, answering questions about the facility and surrounding areas, provide programming events to the public, and providing customer services. Employees may also be asked to do light maintenance activities in addition. 

Trails - Work together with other trail team members to create and build trail systems through our facilities, help with maintaining invasive species and utilizing a variety of outdoor equipment. Driver's licenses required to operate all motor vehicles.

All positions include weekend and holiday scheduling, including possible night shifts.
