Summary of Position Description:
The individual performing this role is required to approach the position with Cru in a manner that seeks, individually and with others, the guidance of the Holy Spirit through prayer. The individual is expected to approach the job in a way that reflects the teachings of the Lord and demonstrates dignity and respect for those with whom the individual works.

Provides project oversight to multi-faceted new donor acquisition (NDA) campaigns to ensure the execution of tasks and the effective management of relationships with vendors, freelancers, internal departments, and donors. Serves to help connect donors to the ministry through various US Development initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - As an employee with Cru:

For this role - 

  • Manage the multi-million dollar new donor direct mail acquisition program for USDEV by:
    • Preparing, distributing, and presenting the project summary and interacting with our
      third-party list broker to ensure the lists we mail to will yield the best possible new
      donors for Cru
    • Managing the relationships with the list broker, creative and data freelancers, production team, internal data team (Dev Services) and print/mail vendors to ensure that deadlines are met and goals are achieved.
    • Building and maintaining the multi-faceted “Keycode Schedule” to track all lists and
      merge/purge activity
    • Coordinating the delivery of all creative and data components to meet vendor delivery requirements and drop dates dictated by list rental agreements
    • Creating job schedules for vendors and Dev Services to ensure the job is ready on time 
  • Create and maintain the annual proforma for the use of the entire marketing team.
  • Use projections to build goals, input costs and edit as needed throughout the fiscal year.
  • Evaluate and analyze direct marketing program results for NDA to determine the effectiveness of individual donor segments and make adjustments to future efforts to maximize response and net income.
  • Update and maintain breakeven analysis report and average long term value (LTV) of NDA test log.
  • Manage the Acquisition Results by Kit Spreadsheet by: 
    • Ensuring the formulas are coming in correctly, 
    • Adding newly dropped jobs to track results, 
    • Ensuring all costs are added
  • Work with List Broker to ensure they have accurate results by:
    • Forwarding Weekly NDA Vendor analysis reports to List Broker
    • Reviewing daily Large Donor Report and sending any large NDA gifts to list broker and Executive Director
  • Prepare and present on USDEV and other ministries’ NDA programs in USDEV quarterly meeting
    • Assist other ministries as assigned to create/maintain their NDA programs by:
    • Building timelines for their data and creative schedules.
    • Monitoring the fiscal budget for each ministry and how it should be allocated per mailing.
    • Editing art and copy for accuracy and performance.
  • Analyze results and provide feedback to each ministry's development contact on a semi-annual basis or as needed to make strategic decisions for their budgets.

Other Functions (non-essential)

  • Write donor thank you notes as needed.
  • Respond to donor questions in the Cru email inbox as needed.
  • Participate in the annual donor calling campaign
  • Demonstrate and model personal spiritual discipline and assist in development of an environment on the team where individual team members grow in their own Christian walks.
  • Personal development - engage in the Staff Development process including creating and implementing a Personal Development Plan (PDP) targeting areas of growth.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned

  • Graphic design software for marketing pieces
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Interpersonal skills, using tact, patience, and courtesy
  • Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Fund development including direct marketing and major donor
  • Copy editing and proofreading techniques
  • Professional telecommunication skills

Ability to:

  • Multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and maintain priorities
  • Coordinate large amounts of information simultaneously.
  • Work with Cru leadership in U.S. ministries and internationally.
  • Work closely with marketing freelancers and other outside vendors.
  • Function confidentially and diplomatically.
  • Be a disciplined self-starter who regularly sets and achieves work goals and deadlines and makes independent judgments.
  • Maintain diplomacy with leaders while being persistent to get responses to a variety of inquiries
  • Work cooperatively, creatively, and proactively with a virtual team.
  • Perform necessary research for reports and stories.
  • Use current technology including, but not limited to - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Portfolio, Google systems, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Asana, Internet, WebEx, Goldmine and Connect and Care data systems.
  • View ministry partner development as a vital ministry.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing on a highly professional level to a variety of
    constituencies, including ministry partners, potential ministry partners and Cru staff members (also includes written communication of ministry projects and cause concepts).
  • Solve problems calmly and efficiently.
  • Minimal domestic travel required.

Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising or Communication


Experience Experience
3 - 5 years in fund development that serves nonprofits, and/oran equivalent combination of education and experience.
