Community Training Coordinator (Special Assignment Support)

The Town of Needham is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Community Training Coordinator (Special Assignment Support) with the Department of Youth & Family Services. Reporting to the Director of Youth & Family Services, this role involves designing and delivering training programs to community members, intensive community outreach, and involvement in assessing the needs of staff and local community organizations while also managing data collection to support evidence-based practices. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mental health, training methodologies, and a commitment to promoting mental well-being within diverse communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community-based training programs on mental health, including, but not limited to, Mental Health First Aid, tailored to diverse audience needs and in collaboration with mental health professionals, when applicable.
  • Conduct targeted outreach efforts in collaboration with community leaders to raise awareness of mental health resources and connect with, build, and maintain relationships with individuals in the community who may benefit from mental health support.
  • Assist individuals in accessing and navigating available mental health resources and services.
  • Advocate for clients in securing necessary services and overcoming barriers to mental health care.
  • Design, implement, and maintain accurate records of training activities and participant feedback, analyzing trainings and methods on effectiveness.

 

Requirements

The following requirements may be substituted by any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job:
 

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.
  • Two years of experience working in mental health field.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a mental health professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.) or the ability to obtain licensure within three (3) years from the date of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, LGBTQ+ affirming, and multi-culturally competent with an understanding of social determinants of mental health.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
