About Us: Cellens, Inc., a cancer diagnostic company, is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and highly motivated Research Technician Intern to join our team. Research & Development at Cellens is multi-disciplinary, integrating surface science, cell biology, and data science to address important unmet clinical needs. We are dedicated to developing a novel diagnostic modality leveraging biophysical markers and machine learning to detect cancer non-invasively. Our first clinical product is a urine-based test for bladder cancer.

Position Overview: We are seeking a creative Research Technician Intern who is finishing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 1 year of expertise in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) operation and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in AFM principles and techniques, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for precision. 

  • Operate and maintain AFM instruments, ensuring their proper functionality and calibration.
  • Prepare samples for AFM imaging and measurements, including sample mounting, surface cleaning, and modification.
  • Conduct AFM experiments and data acquisition, adhering to established protocols and experimental design.
  • Analyze AFM data to extract relevant information and generate accurate, insightful reports.
  • Troubleshoot and address issues with AFM instrumentation as they arise.
  • Collaborate with researchers and scientists to design and optimize AFM experiments for specific projects.
  • Stay current with advancements in AFM technology and methodologies to suggest improvements and enhancements.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians or researchers in AFM techniques.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results.
  • Ensure the safe handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials by safety guidelines.
