Intern, Global Medical Affairs

SUMMARY:   

The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.    

The purpose of the Medical Affairs Organization is to drive BioMarin’s Scientific Strategy to Enhance Patient’s Lives and Health Outcomes Through Appropriate Evidence-Based Use of Our Medicines in Real-World Integrated Clinical Care.   

JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:   

We have an opening in Global Medical Affairs for a summer intern to assist in developing and executing a clinical trial in hematology.    

   

This Summer Intern will work closely with the team and will conduct medical literature reviews,  assist in the development of clinical trial documents, the evaluation of clinical trial sites and the coordination of Medical Expert meetings.  This opportunity offers a real-world glimpse into the development and conduct of a clinical trial and the types of skills needed for a clinical position in a biotechnology company.   

   

Job Description:   

  • Supporting the Global Medical Affairs Team in research, communication and scientific engagements
  • Assisting in development of documents and summary tables
  • Assisting in coordinating Medical Expert meetings
  • Conducting medical literature searches and prioritizing and summarizing results

   

Required Skills:   

  • Clear and concise written and oral communication
  • Flexibility and efficiency in responding to the demands of a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to conduct medical literature searches and prioritize and summarize results
  • Ability to generate summary tables
  • Strong interest in medical research and data generation

   

Desired Skills:   

  • Ability to generate graphs and tables
  • Experience with Power Point and Excel – helpful but not required

   

Qualifications/Eligibility:   

  • Student in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of Undergrad in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Science or Pre-medical studies 
  • Student must be returning to school in the Fall Term OR has graduated within the 1 year of the start of the program. 
  • Must be available to work 40 hours a week
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

In the U.S., the hiring range for this position is $ 21.00 to $ 25.00 per hour. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
