Summer Camp Counselor
Position Summary
Camp James is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Counselors for the upcoming summer season. Counselors play a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for our campers, fostering sportsmanship, creativity, cooperation, respect, and friendship.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for a group of up to 12 campers, guiding them through daily activities, promoting positive behavior, and serving as positive role models
- Actively participate in all camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and special events, ensuring that campers are engaged and having fun
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of campers at all times, following established protocols for supervision, first aid, and emergency response
- Maintain open and effective communication with campers, fellow staff members, and camp leadership, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment
- Adhere to Camp James' policies and procedures, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm in all interactions
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Must commit to 8-10 weeks of camp, operating Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, between June 10th and August 16th
- CPR/AED certification is a prerequisite for this position. Previous experience working with children is preferred
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from high school
- Ability to work outdoors in the sun all day and swim in deep, cold ocean water
