Summer Camp Assistant Counselor

Position Summary

Camp James is seeking energetic and responsible individuals to join our team as Assistant Counselors for the upcoming summer season. Assistant Counselors play a vital role in supporting our campers' growth and enjoyment by assisting counselors directly in guiding them through daily activities and ensuring their safety and well-being.

 

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Aid counselors directly in supervising and mentoring a group of up to 15 of our youngest campers, assisting them with daily activities and promoting positive behavior
  • Actively participate in all camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and special events, under the supervision of counselors
  • Prioritize the safety and supervision of campers at all times, following established protocols and assisting counselors in emergency response procedures
  • Maintain open and effective communication with campers, fellow staff members, and camp leadership, contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment

 

Position Requirements

  • Applicants should be 16 or 17 years old in high school
  • Must commit to 4-10 weeks of camp, operating Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, between June 10th and August 16th.
  • CPR/AED certification is a prerequisite for this position. Previous experience working with children is preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in the sun all day and swim in deep, cold ocean water.
