Summer Camp Lifeguard
Position Summary
Camp James is currently seeking qualified and vigilant individuals to join our team as Lifeguards for the upcoming summer season. Lifeguards play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our campers during water-based activities, providing supervision and emergency response when needed.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor campers during water-based activities, including free swim, canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and providing assistance as necessary
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, performing water rescues, administering first aid, and coordinating with camp leadership and medical personnel as needed
- May be responsible for teaching water safety and swimming skills to campers, promoting confidence and proficiency in aquatic environments
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of watercraft and safety equipment, ensuring that all gear is in good working condition
- Maintain open communication with campers, fellow staff members, and camp leadership, fostering a safe and supportive environment
Position Requirements
- Applicants must be 16 or older
- Must commit to 6-10 weeks of camp, operating Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, between June 10th and August 16th
- Lifeguard certification is a prerequisite for this position. Advanced Lifesaving or equivalent, Standard/Advanced First Aid, and CPR certification are required
- Ability to lifeguard in both pool and open water settings, and to work outdoors in the sun all day
Additional Details
Lifeguards may apply for the position without being certified, but certification must be completed by May 31st, 2024.
