APFC Corporate Internship Investments

The investments intern works directly with several members of our investment team and will be provided exceptional opportunities to learn investment skills in a practical setting.  The successful candidate will possess superb analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an Alaska resident attending school in any state, or a student enrolled at a post-secondary school in Alaska
  • Minimum GPA for consideration is 2.5 overall and 3.0 within major
  • Experience with the Microsoft Windows platform
  • Recent College graduates are eligible to apply if graduation occurred within six months of the application close date

Internship Preferences

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Mathematics with a GPA over 3.25
  • Preference will be given to undergraduate candidates going in to their Junior or Senior year or after their first year in a Master’s program.
  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for learning new software programs and above average knowledge in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Internship Description

The intern job duties involve a variety of projects and will provide the intern with an introduction to a variety of investment asset classes, which could include Private Equity, Fixed Income, Real Estate, Public Equities and Asset Allocation.  Potential projects include:

  • Targeted industry/opportunity research
  • Asset class specific research and documenting deal summaries
  • Development of asset class dashboard reporting
  • Optimizing databases and utilizing premier investment systems, including Bloomberg and Blackrock
  • Asset class specific special projects
  • Partnering with consultants to automate data processes
  • The intern will also perform other duties as assigned and will receive exposure to all APFC departments to gain an overall perspective of corporate functions.

Internship Details

Duration:

12-13 Weeks with flexible start and end dates, depending on school schedule

Travel & Housing:

One Round-trip fare to Juneau will be paid for.  Housing is not provided.  Interns may arrange for housing through the University of Alaska Southeast if available.
