Be a part of an educational movement that is shaping the future of hundreds of students while also getting the chance to explore the captivating depths of the local heritage, culture, and history. Our diverse internship offerings range from annual Summer School and English Teaching positions to unique intervention internships and more,  all designed to provide you with a meaningful and enriching experience that is suitable for you!

The following internship options offer various opportunities throughout different seasons:

Fall: A 3 to 4-month internship focusing on English, Critical & Design Thinking courses, or providing college counseling to Horizons students.

Winter: A 2-week intensive period dedicated to teaching English or offering college counseling to Horizons students.

Spring: A dynamic 4 to 6-week interval for teaching English, nurturing creative writing skills, SAT and TOEFL preparations, or providing comprehensive college counseling.

Summer: A vibrant 4 to 6-week period supporting summer school preparations and serving as an instructor, with optional counseling.

Year-round: Flexible opportunities tailored to individual expertise and interests, including mentoring, college application support, essay reviews, and professional development guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate Engaging Learning Experiences: Lead courses in English, Critical & Design Thinking, creative writing, or other subject areas to enhance students' academic skills and critical thinking abilities.
  2. Provide College Counseling Support: Offer one-on-one mentoring, guidance on college applications, essay reviews, and assistance with professional development activities such as resume preparation and internship searches.
  3. Tailor Instruction to Student Needs: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning styles and interests of students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  4. Assist with Program Planning and Preparation: Support the team in preparing for summer school or other educational initiatives, contributing to curriculum development, logistical coordination, and administrative tasks as needed.
  5. Foster Student Success and Well-being: Build positive relationships with students, offering encouragement, mentorship, and support to promote their academic achievement, personal growth, and overall well-being.
  6. Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with colleagues to brainstorm ideas, share best practices, and collaborate on projects to enhance the overall effectiveness and impact of the program.
  7. Reflect and Iterate: Engage in ongoing reflection and evaluation to assess the effectiveness of program activities and identify opportunities for improvement, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, with a demonstrated interest in education, counseling, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and build rapport quickly.
  • Passion for supporting student success and a commitment to equity and inclusion in education.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities as needed.
  • Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or counseling is preferred but not required.
  • Availability to commit to the internship duration specified for the chosen season(s) or year-round engagement.
