Job Description:
As a Trip Director at Pioneer Village, you will play a vital role in coordinating and leading outdoor excursions for our teen summer camp program. You will be responsible for organizing and overseeing hike, bike, and canoe trips, ensuring a safe and memorable experience for campers and staff alike.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate trip logistics, including route planning, equipment preparation, and transportation arrangements.
- Collaborate with camp leadership staff to execute staff training prior to camper arrival.
- Prepare all trip materials and supplies, ensuring they are well-maintained and readily accessible.
- Maintain the trip room space where gear is stored, ensuring it is organized and stocked.
- Lead pre-trip orientations for staff and campers, providing essential information and safety guidelines.
- Accompany campers on trips, offering guidance, support, and supervision throughout the journey.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging teamwork, camaraderie, and personal growth.
- Collaborate with camp leadership to evaluate trip effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Gather evaluations of trips from camp staff and campers.
- Assist with other camp activities and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience with outdoor trips and activities is preferred.
- Experience working with youth in a camp or outdoor education setting.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- A degree or coursework in outdoor education or a related field is a plus.
- Outgoing, adaptable, and able to connect with campers and staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast paced environment.
- Willingness to live in a platform tent on camp property for the duration of the summer season.
