Synopsis 

Are you passionate about traveling and languages? Do you believe that students studying abroad can have the experience of a lifetime? Are you an ESL teacher looking to supplement your income in an international student environment, interacting with students of varying ages from over 40 countries? Have you recently completed TESOL or CELTA training and are looking to put your new skills and training into practice while receiving developmental feedback from experienced, nurturing ESL professionals? 

EF’s dynamic Tarrytown school is looking for an energetic, outgoing teacher to fill a short-term contract, starting in January 2024, with the potential of it rolling into a longer-term one. Newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply. 

Duties and responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Teach scheduled contact hours as scheduled by Academic Management 
  • Provide high quality classes using our EF blended learning program 
  • Complete the necessary administrative work required for classes in a timely manner 
  • Prepare materials and resources relevant to your classes, including handouts, quizzes, tests, and assignments as needed for each course 
  • Help students with queries they may have and communicate this with the appropriate departments
  • Actively participate in teacher meetings and all staff development activities 

Minimum requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • TEFL certificate (CELTA or equivalent preferred) 
  • Native or proficient level English (C2 level) 
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and positive 
  • Organized, thorough, and able to work well under pressure and within strict time constraints 
  • Excellent planning and organization skills, with good attention to detail 
  • The ability to provide exceptional customer service to large volumes of students on a daily basis 
  • Experience with standardized ESL exams, such as TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge is a plus 

Earnings 

  • $27.31 - $30.91 per 80-minute block depending on teaching experience 
  • Limited room and board included and those who are interested in this will be working full-time hours
