Job Summary:

The IDEA Summer Accelerator is seeking dynamic individuals to fill the role of Program Coordinator. As a Program Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in guiding high school students through a transformative three-week program focused on project development and community impact.

One of the primary responsibilities of this role is the development of two unique courses, tailored to your expertise. These courses should break away from traditional lecture-based formats and instead emphasize experiential and non-traditional learning methods. Through hands-on activities, immersive experiences, and interactive projects, you will engage students in dynamic learning environments that spark creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Additionally, you will oversee and support student capstone projects, guiding students throughout the entire ideation process (i.e., from brainstorming ideas to preparing them to effectively present their projects at our culminating Demo Day event on the final day of the program).

The ideal candidate will be a current college student or recent graduate with a strong background in project development and program management, coupled with a demonstrated commitment to serving underprivileged communities. While previous experience working with high school students or teaching is advantageous, it is not required. This position offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a meaningful impact on the lives of local youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and facilitate a comprehensive curriculum for two courses within your field of expertise, emphasizing experiential and non-traditional learning methods.
  • Cultivate an inclusive learning environment that respects and celebrates diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Mentor and guide students throughout the capstone project process, from brainstorming to presentation, fostering creativity and innovation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the presentation of student projects at the Demo Day event, showcasing their achievements to industry and community leaders.
  • Utilize project management strategies to monitor student progress and ensure alignment with program benchmarks.
  • Lead interactive workshops and teambuilding activities to promote collaboration and trust among students.
  • Maintain regular communication with local directors and executive staff to provide updates and gather feedback.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to promoting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) both within and outside the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications:
In the spirit of accessible learning and development, these are “nice to haves” and can absolutely be demonstrated through transferrable experience in prior jobs, internships, and college-level classwork. If you have concerns about your qualifications in regard to this role, we still encourage you to apply, but please feel free to contact our team directly (info@thestatelesscollective.org).

  • Ideal candidates will meet one of the following conditions: currently enrolled in a four-year college degree program, recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree or a Post-Secondary Degree (e.g., MBA, MA, PhD, J.D., etc.), or a young professional who has graduated from college within the last 3 years.
  • Experience in project development and/or program management, preferably in educational or nonprofit settings.
  • Experience designing and delivering experiential learning programs, workshops, courses, or seminars.
  • Familiarity with project-based learning methodologies and student-centered instructional approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Passion for working with youth from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to social justice and community engagement.
  • Having the ability to quickly devise engaging activities to motivate and energize student groups is a huge plus.
