Salary: $50,000-$60,000, generous benefits package
Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI (Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin.)

The Opportunity: As a Deputy Press Secretary, you will play a key role in our earned media strategies and rapid response communications work, with a focus on local, state legislative, and U.S. House races.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Act as an on-the-record spokesperson on behalf of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
  • Develop strategies to engage local media, including booking surrogates on local television and radio programs, and engaging with volunteers to write letters to the editor. 
  • Monitor and track breaking news and noteworthy developments in Wisconsin campaigns for federal and state office. 
  • Build relationships with Wisconsin stakeholders as directed.
  • Regularly draft engaging & useful press materials, including press releases, fact sheets, guest columns, and other items as needed.
  • Help organize and execute regular press events to generate earned media.
  • On-year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election preparation as necessary.

  • Effective Team Player - Ability to collaborate with colleagues to produce quality communications materials.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Press Event Planning - Demonstrated skills in planning and executing successful and engaging press events to generate earned media coverage.
