The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as its Staff Assistant. The qualified candidate will be responsible for supporting the President/CEO, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Special Assistant to the President/CEO, as well as other APAICS staff as needed.

 

The Staff Assistant reports directly to the Special Assistant to the President/CEO.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answers and screens telephone calls for the staff and takes messages when appropriate.
  • Scheduling events and work-related items into the airtable calendar.
  • Take weekly staff meeting minutes.
  • Provide general support across APAICS departments as needed.
  • Assist in event planning.
  • Support talent operations including job postings, and recruiting practices.
  • Assist with office functionality, ensuring team members have the tools to be successful in their roles.
  • Manage EveryAction CRM database by maintaining accurate inputting and systems protocols.
  • Support the Special Assistant to the President/CEO with the APAICS Office Intern Program.
  • Support the Special Assistant to the President/CEO with the candidate and elected officials database.
  • Assist in writing briefings for Members of Congress, elected officials, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a four-year degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Asian American & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities across the country is preferred.

  • Works well under pressure.
  • Solid logistical and organizational skills required.
  • Sense of humor with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others.
  • Proficiency in word processing, excel, and outlook.

 

COMPENSATION

  • Starting salary is $50,000  with healthcare premium reimbursement, 21 days of vacation and access to 401(k) plan after 90 days of employment, all federal holidays off, Christmas through New Year’s off, and transit benefits.
  • This full-time opportunity is located in Washington, D.C.
