Seasonal Network and Server Support Associate

TITLE: Seasonal Network and Server Support Associate

STATUS: Full-Time, Seasonal

START: ASAP

END DATE: August 30, 2024

LOCATION: In-Person May 1- August 30, 6-days a week. Until May 1 hybrid work may be available.

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations and Systems

WORKS WITH: Department heads, Contractors, in-house and remote staff, vendors, Tessitura database administrator

DEPARTMENT: Operation and Systems

COMPENSATION: $24-$28 per hour

BENEFITS (SUMMER ONLY): Three meals a day, free access to classes, performances, talks, and studio usage.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Seasonal Network and Server Support Associate is responsible for updating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the IT server and network infrastructure in advance of the summer festival season, including managing external vendors and contractors. As a member of the Operations team, you will provide key support to staff and departments in fulfilling their technology needs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot our Server and Network Environment.
  • Vet and apply patches and updates to servers following industry best practices.
  • Advise, plan, and execute projects needed to improve performance and ease of use.
  • Attend weekly Op Sys department meetings.
  • Provide feedback and participate in projects across the department.
  • Provide support and be a point of contact for employee onboarding and managing special projects.
  • Coordinate and administer cross-departmental efforts and special projects.
  • Record, update, and maintain our online resource library.
  • Create, maintain, and revise relevant sections of the IT Manual as needed.
  • Design and implement functional improvements.
  • Assist in the continual development of best practices surrounding onboarding and offboarding.
  • On-call for campus technical emergencies in collaboration with the OpSys team.
  • Prepare and execute change control protocols, reporting as requested.
  • Work with staff to ensure technology needs are being met across the organization.
  • Support technologies that coexist in our environment and interact with our network, POS, APs, mobile technologies, etc.
  • Support other department members during the Festival, allowing them to experience and enjoy the shows.

 

IT LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Be an active infrastructure disaster recovery team member.
  • Be a key member of the Security and Risk Assessment teams.
  • Lead innovation, improve, and maintain systems as assigned.
  • Lead efforts to develop automation to improve efficiency.
  • Document changes in the systems we utilize in an accurate, concise, and timely manner.
  • Develop with the Director of OpSys a comprehensive database of best practices, assisting in the specific application of IT best practices centering on their purview.

SECURITY AND INTEGRITY

  • Ensuring the integrity of data storage and backup systems.
  • Using security tools to protect the network from hackers, malware, and other threats.
  • Anticipating problems and resolving them before they impact users when possible.
  • Testing software and reviewing application logs.
  • Adding, removing, or updating user information like passwords or internal email addresses.
  • Maintaining Firewall and endpoint security products and services.Perform regular user data sanitization.
  • Train staff when needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 Years of network and server administration experience. 1-3 Years of support/helpdesk experience.
  • Windows Server 2013-2019 3 years, Mac OS, 3 years, Linux experience preferred but not required. DHCP, DNS, Windows File Server, NAS, Azure, AWS and Cloud Virtualization. VMware, hardware virtualization, and administration.
  • Database experience and general information systems knowledge.
  • Understanding of IT Best practices and development cycles as related to the Job Title and description.
  • Strong task and project management skills. Strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to be helpful and adjust priorities as needed
  • Willingness to respond to needs outside of office hours and do cross-departmental work is essential. Creative problem-solving and off-book thinking are must-haves.

CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • A+. Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), CompTIA Server+, VMware Certified Professional, CompTIA Network+, Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Security+

 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Office setting: Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, moving within the office space as necessary.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Moving through and between multiple locations throughout the entire campus.
  • Working regularly in wooded areas with exposure to native wildlife, including, but not limited to, rodents, ticks, and mosquitos.
  • Working regularly outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.
