Litigation Paralegal
Downtown Boston law firm seeks full-time Litigation Paralegal. Applicant must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be detail-oriented, very organized and computer literate. Applicant must also possess a Paralegal Certification from an ABA accredited program, or a bachelor or associate degree of any type and at least 3 years of litigation paralegal experience. Primary Responsibilities:
- Gather all necessary documents responsive to discovery requests and track status of discovery requests.
- Draft motions and accompanying affidavits and exhibits.
- Draft all KOR subpoenas and accompanying documents and draft authorizations for medical, employment, tax, social security, and criminal records, and any other relevant records.
- Track status of all medical, employment, tax, social security, and criminal records, and any other relevant records, as well as all x-ray films received to date.
- Prepare indexes of radiology and pathology materials.
- Organize medical records and in some cases draft medical chronology.
- Draft deposition summaries and summaries of other relevant documents as requested by attorney.
- Prepare Trial Notebooks.
- Assist with trial preparation, including drafting trial pleadings and other trial-related documents.
Required Skills:
- Previous experience as a litigation paralegal at a law firm; experience with insurance defense matters is a plus.
- Experience with drafting deposition summaries.
- Knowledge of pleading and discovery documents, including ability to type, edit and format legal documents and correspondence.
- Ability to take initiative; organize and prioritize workload and use judgment in decision making on how to adequately and efficiently meet all deadlines for multiple attorneys;
- Must have the ability to multi-task effectively, work well independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with time and billing software.
Required Education/Number of Years Work Experience:
1. A Paralegal Certification from an ABA accredited program, or
2. At least 3 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal; a bachelor or associate degree is preferred with the experience.
