Summer 2024: June 3 - August 9 with the potential to extend part-time in the Fall    

 Internship is reserved for students currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university and must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.  This role is hybrid out of Barracuda’s Chelmsford, MA office.

The Cybersecurity Intern will support the Barracuda XDR SOC Blue Team with daily tasks focusing on service delivery and SOC efficiency. This includes triaging security events, facilitating customer inquiries, managing processes and runbooks, researching and developing SOC advancements, and more. The Cybersecurity Intern works among a skilled global SOC team to address security matters across Barracuda XDR customer base. 

What you’ll be working on:            

• Assist with daily operation of monitoring networks for security events/incidents to detect active threats, intrusions, and/or compromises, within our SIEM, SOAR, and TIP resources.
• Support the vulnerability scanning processes.
• Facilitate operational tasks related to Endpoint Protection and Email Protection solutions.
• Provide operational support for requests with Barracuda XDR’s security services.
• Support general inquiries/requests relevant to security concerns and recommendations.
• Contribute to the SOC Emerging Threats program. This involves understanding the ever-changing global threat landscape and tracking changes in this area, as well as understanding the direct or indirect impact to the customer base by publishing threat advisories on a regular basis.
• Engage in proactive security efforts by conducting threat hunting, attack and defend exercises, threat (malware, vulnerability) research, etc.
• Contribute to the advancement of our SOC maturity through participation in our agile projects.
• Help drive SOC efficiency by optimizing our knowledgebase and associated processes.
• Assist with customer management by understanding, identifying, and mitigating issues with customers security.
   

What you bring to the role:             

• Have completed or currently enrolled in a Cybersecurity degree program, bootcamp, or other related learning.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Customer service skills, phone and remote support experience.
• Passion and interest for the Cybersecurity field.
• Eagerness to learn and advance in security operations.
• Experience with basic networking and operating system principles.
• Familiar with incident response and analysis of attack vectors such as:
  • Ransomware
  • Business Email Compromise
  • Phishing
  • Botnet
  • DDoS
  • SQL Injection
  • Supply Chain Attacks
• Familiar with common SOC tools such as:
  • SIEM
  • SOAR
  • Other Log/Packet Analysis applications
  • EDR
  • Email Security
  • Threat Intelligence
  • Vulnerability Scanner
  • Sandbox Environments
