Digital Marketing Intern

Overview of Position

The Digital Marketing Intern is a seasonal member of the marketing department which consists of the Executive Marketing Director, Multimedia Director, Graphic Designers, Video Editor, Digital Content Specialist, Web and App Specialist, and Marketing Coordinator. 

The Digital Marketing Intern performs under the general direction of the Multimedia Director and Digital Content Specialist. This role provides a great opportunity to develop skills for working at an advertising agency and within a marketing department.

They may also interact with company leadership and executives and will be expected to present themselves in a professional manner.

The Marketing Intern should be detail oriented and have a sense of urgency in completing his or her tasks. This position may frequently be asked to change tasks with short notice and is expected to function as a part of the Marketing Department.

Description of Duties

The Digital Marketing Intern will assist the Multimedia Director and Digital Content Specialist with the goal of representing the Kanakuk family of products and ministries to Kampers, families, summer staff, and Donors, across all online platforms/channels, in alignment with established branding and voice to ensure a consistent and engaging premium experience. 

  • Help oversee Kanakuk’s 20 plus social media accounts:
    • Study user trends, new features, and competition to propose new ideas, content, and strategies for messaging and content.
    • Review post contents to ensure accurate information and proper grammar.
  • Review Kanakuk.com and other ministry sites:
    • Highlight pages that are known to have errors or outdated information and catalog the changes for review.
    • Draft daily updates in Bunk1 for each Kamp to help communicate to our parents and give them a window into their child’s experience.
  • Assist in daily photo vetting of Summer Action photos and publish them live.
  • Assist in the management of online video and photo libraries.
  • Assist in the choosing of high quality visuals from the summer for use across marketing channels.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable of Facebook, Instagram, X, Pinterest, YouTube, and other social platforms.
  • Problem solving skills, and ability to analyze and strategize against information.
  • Knowledgeable of Adobe CC including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with web based tools.

Other Requirements and Characteristics:

  • Ready and confident in learning new programs and systems.
  • Can effectively communicate ideas orally and in writing including outlines, scripts, and story boards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines without heavy oversight.
  • Knowledge of Kanakuk Kamps helpful, not required.
  • Has a heart to serve.
  • Handles unexpected projects and deadlines with a joyful heart.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. However, there will be frequent walking within a multi-acre campus, sometimes over unfinished terrain; standing; bending; carrying of light to medium weight items such as papers, books, camera equipment; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • At times this job will collate and assemble job components, laminate, package finished product for delivery, operate the paper drill, operate paper cutter, and operate the folder.
