Maternal and Child Health Fact Sheet Project Intern

Project: Maternal and Child Health Fact Sheets using data from the MA Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)

Organization: Bureau of Family Health and Nutrition    

The student will work with our Division of Maternal and Child Health Research and Analysis to create fact sheets using PRAMS data on topics including factors associated with contraception use before and after pregnancy, pregnancy intention including fertility treatment, reproductive coercion, and primary healthcare utilization. Other possible topics for fact sheets include but are not limited to prenatal substance use (e.g., smoking, e-smoking, alcohol, marijuana), social determinants of health, oral health in pregnancy, and vaccination in pregnancy. Fact Sheets will be posted on our division's website at Mass.gov and shared with our clinical and community partners. The student will gain an understanding of many factors that contribute to maternal and child health (MCH) during pregnancy and postpartum, and of how to analyze population-based survey data. 

Skills Required: Strong SAS skills. Broad MCH knowledge a plus. 
Technology Required: Laptop, access to SAS AWS software 
Work Arrangement: Remote/Hybrid 
Hours Per Week: 20 
Preferred Eligibility: Students in Masters and or Doctoral programs  
Preferred Academic Experience: Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Maternal and Child Health (MCH), Public Health, and other related areas of study
