Health Transition Toolkit Intern

Project: Health Transition Toolkit Soft Launch 

Organization: Bureau of Family Health and Nutrition

In a team, intern will be working to edit and soft launch toolkits for a health transition toolkit for youth and young adults with special health needs (YYASHN). This toolkit is holistic and covers a broad range of topics related to adult health in order to support the quality of life and wellbeing of YYASHN, address health equity and stigma, and improve the number of YYASHN who receive the necessary support to make a successful transition to the best of their abilities. The editing and soft launching will include editing prewritten toolkits for plain language, clarity, content and framing. The soft launch will involve bringing the toolkits to subject matter experts, families and YYASHN in 1:1 interviews and focus groups to test the content and usability. Then moving the toolkits through DPH for hard launch and marketing. Interns will learn about health communication, health education, disability justice, health equity, project planning, project evaluation, quality improvement and more.

Skills Required: Writing, editing, research, communication skills, basic Microsoft, understanding of health equity, at least baseline understanding of disability justice.

Work Arrangement: Remote 
Hours Per Week: 10
Preferred Eligibility: Students in Bachelors and or Masters programs
Preferred Academic Experience: Public Health and related areas of study
