Benefits Administration Specialist

Retail Business Services is the services company of leading grocery retail group Ahold Delhaize USA, currently providing services to five omnichannel grocery brands, including Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford and Stop & Shop.


 

Position Summary:

Perform administrative processes that deliver medical, dental, and other benefits driven by Collectively Bargained Agreements to associates of companies supported by Retail Business Services. Serve as a subject matter expert on our union Benefits programs and related processes. Answer associate inquires, including those directed from Associate Service Center. Support audit and regulatory compliance activities.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize HR systems to process complex transactions. Such transactions include but are not limited to associate.
  • changes affecting status, leaves of absence/FMLA, health & wellness insurance claims, disability claims, and paid time off.
  • Analyze each transaction to ensure accuracy within each union contract and/or company policy.
  • Assess supplemental pay and create requests in Cyborg for payment based on contractual or policy language.
  • Provide oversight and support to the business as it relates to associate related transactions.
  • Utilize systems and reports like Cyborg and Control D to review critical HR related audit reports to ensure data integrity by researching and updating associate records according to union contract, company policy, and ACA Regulations.
  • Actively respond to HR-related questions from the business units and HR Business Partners.
  • Research, compile and provide data for the Third-Party Administrators, Union and/or Fund Office teams, and other appropriate stakeholders to support necessary requests.
  • Serve as primary contact for HR Business Partners and the business units on contractual and policy related questions, as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Support implementation of various projects by performing systems user acceptance testing and partner with the HR Services management for updates and execution.
  • Provide support to HR department on various tasks and projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience in Benefits Administration, claims processing, collectively bargained benefits or other benefits related area.
  • Intermediate MS Office, Visio, and Project skills.
  • Advanced Excel skill
  • HR systems knowledge
  • Strong understanding of ERISA and applicable benefit provisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience.
