Legal Assistant

We are seeking a qualified Legal Assistant to join our Miami Beach Office. As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for performing administrative tasks, client intake, scheduling, requesting medical records, etc. This position's ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and can work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent organizational skills, time management, and professional etiquette are a must. Prior experience in personal injury, negligent security, or medical malpractice is preferred.

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Requesting all pre-litigation documents: police reports, medical records and bills, insurance information, etc.
  • Preparing demands and closing statements.
  • Scheduling hearings, medical appointments, CME(s)/IME(s), and calendar deadlines.
  • Maintain pleadings, discovery, and case files.
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
  • Implement and improve upon administrative processes for more efficient workflow.
  • Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation.
  • Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings, notices, and discovery.
  • Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and attorney assigned to file.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Strong multitasking skills, highly organized, and detail oriented.
  • Experience in Personal Injury, WC, Premises Liability, Negligent Security, or other injury related practice areas is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work at a fast pace on a heavy case volume.
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a great attitude and minimal supervision.
  • Great written and communication skills, be proficient in calendar depositions, mediation, and hearings.
