OVERVIEW:
Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) is an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Boston’s historic Back Bay whose mission is to advance the highest ethical standards in the conduct of biomedical, behavioral, and social science research. Since 1974, PRIM&R has served as the primary professional home and trusted thought leader for the human and animal research oversight communities. Through educational programming, membership services, professional certification, public policy initiatives, and community building, PRIM&R seeks to ensure that everyone involved in research understands the central importance of ethics in the advancement of science. What you’ll do: The Certification Assistant plays a key role in supporting the administration of PRIM&R’s professional certification programs. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Serves as front-line customer service for inquiries about PRIM&R’s certification programs.
• Supports the administrative workflow and data management for PRIM&R’s certification programs. This includes facilitating the review of all certification and recertification applications and program review.
• Provides support and meeting/communication logistics for the Certification Committee of PRIM&R’s Board of Directors and the external volunteer CIP and CPIA Councils.
• Supports Council projects that aim to further the mission of the programs.
• Acts as a member of the organization’s customer service team (answers phones, processes event registrations and memberships, monitors primr.org inboxes, etc.)
• Staffs in-person PRIM&R Annual Conference and may assist with special events and community-building activities on-site as necessary.
What we’re looking for:
• One to two years’ work experience, preferably in customer service or a non-profit setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies across the organization.
• The ideal candidate will be highly organized, and detail focused, with an emphasis on accuracy.
• Ability to use independent judgment and problem solve, be flexible, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, high functioning office environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required, experience with Adobe, Project Management software (Airtable, Basecamp) and CRM/AMS database (Fonteva, Salesforce) is a plus.
• Ability to travel overnight to annual conference.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds.

Relationships:
• Internal: Primarily works with the Associate Director of Certification and often collaborates with the operations, conference, education, and marketing and communications teams.
• External: Works with the Certification Committee, made up of PRIM&R Board of Directors and volunteers; works with the CIP and CPIA Councils, made up of external volunteers; works with external vendors. Answers questions/assists the general public.

SALARY & BENEFITS: This is a full-time position with a starting salary of $42,000. PRIM&R offers a full benefits package, including: medical, dental, 401k, generous paid time off, flexible work schedule,
summer hours, commuter and home office equipment support, and professional development support. PRIM&R offers a hybrid work environment.

Travel: All PRIM&R staff are required to travel to the PRIM&R Annual Conference. Additional travel up to 15%, including travel to the office, one to two times annually, is required. Position can be fully remote, or hybrid.
