Masonry Teacher- Anticipated 2024-25 School Year

Position Name: Masonry Teacher

Degree Qualifications: Technical Education Certification, Vocational Education Certification

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma, along with formal training in Masonry.

Must have a minimum of four years of full-time, wage-earning experience in Masonry.

Must possess or be willing to attain a PA teaching certification (Mason/Masonry CIP 46.0101).

Performance Responsibilities: 

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:

Establish standards for classroom behavior and safety that support the school’s discipline and safety programs (OSHA).

Identify curriculum content by specifying competencies that align with the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI).

Plan lessons for each competency that are defined by clear performance standards, competency procedures, and learning steps.

Communicate, promote, and support the instructional practices and learning of all students across all levels

Maintain technological and instruction skills through continuous professional development.

Participate meaningfully in a professional community and the Technology Education Department

Communicate with administration, parents, and support staff personnel as necessary concerning student progress.

Create a classroom environment and model behavior that promotes professionalism, courtesy, positive attitude, support, and empathy.

Upon successful completion of the AHSD Masonry program, students will be prepared and capable to enter the competitive workforce and earn wages commensurate with or be invited to join union organizations.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Experience shall include:

Laying out jobs

Blueprint reading

Estimating materials and cost

Laying of brick and concrete block

Mixing and spreading of mortar and other bonding materials

Also, experience in scaffolding, masonry reinforcements, chimneys as well as fireplaces and arches, and masonry thin veneers.

Knowledge in Masonry Construction, understanding materials, tools and applications

Strong leadership skills

Computer experience is necessary

Participate in required Teacher Induction Program

Enrollment in a Teacher Certification Program

Having a commitment to making a difference in the community
