The Admission Counselor will assist in all aspects of the admission and financial aid

Processes for incoming first year (high school) students. Primary responsibilities include planning and managing a domestic recruitment territory by attending off campus events at high schools and other locals, virtual recruitment including webinars, individual student meetings, and counseling prospective students and families on campus or virtually about academic

programs, student life, admission and financial aid policies. The Admission Counselor will work to meet an established enrollment goal by identifying students who would be a good match for the University, encouraging application and supporting document submission, visiting campus, and ultimately enrolling at the University. Cultivating high school counselor relationships and presenting daily information sessions are also essential for territory management success.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage a recruitment territory with the expectation of application growth.
  • Represents the University at weekday and evening college fairs and high school visits.
  • Responsible for a recruitment territory to include eight to ten weeks of off campus student recruitment
  • Conducts compelling group presentations designed to demonstrate Saint Joseph’s undergraduate experience
  • Manages one-on-one information sessions and interviews
  • Counsels and advises prospective students and parents about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, federal grants and scholarships, costs, payment plans, etc.
  • Individualizes information to the particular needs and situation of the student with the goal of enrollment
  • Maintains on-going, exceptional, timely, personal communication, correspondence, and follow-up with prospective students and families and school counselors
  • Application reading and processing
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent communication skills (grammar, vocabulary) to be applied to group presentations, telephone communications, and written communications
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality
  • Thrive in a fast-paced office environment with competing yet equal goals. Time- management and decision-making skills are essential
  • Energetic, upbeat, motivated and independent
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by the university
  • Basic understanding or willingness to learn about Jesuit education and its values
  • Successful background check clearance under Saint Joseph’s University’s “Minors on Campus Policy” (PA Criminal Records Check, FBI Fingerprinting Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance Check).

Physical requirements and/or unusual work hours:

  • Some night and weekend hours.
  • Some extended travel.
  • Lifting and carrying college materials to presentations up to 25lbs
  • Stamina to work for prolonged periods of time at recruitment events

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Slate CRM
  • Experience as a student worker in an admission setting or in a leadership position in an academic, extracurricular, service, student, or professional organization.
