Constituent Services Liaison

 

A New York City Council Member’s district office is seeking a Constituent Services Liaison to work with residents of the 13th District to collectively and individually address problems facing their communities.

 

Salary Range: $40,000 to $50,000

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Represent the Councilmember at select events and community meetings (such as community planning board meetings, school board meetings; block association meetings; civic organization meetings, etc.) and other functions within the community.

· Respond to constituent inquiries and work to remedy constituent complaints by investigating issues, conducting research, and contacting various public entities on the federal, state, and local levels, and private entities as needed. Advocate on behalf of constituents for services.

· Coordinate effective and timely responses to constituent inquiries, concerns, and requests for assistance.

· Assist constituents with addressing a range of concerns including but not limited to housing, health care, social service, education, environment, and economic development issues.

· Monitor and track constituent correspondences and related paperwork in the online database.

· Log all complaints, requests, and resolutions and maintain up-to-date files on all cases.

· Conduct follow-up with relevant agencies to track progress and ensure resolution on all requests, providing thorough oversight from initial contact to final case closing.

· Assist with office administration and intern supervision.

· Additional duties and special projects as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in community work or community centered activities in a related area.

· Excellent communication, public presentation, research and writing skills.

· Must be highly organized and detail-oriented.

· Interest in local government and city issues and/or previous experience in government or political campaigns preferred.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.
