Administrative Assistant

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTMusic and Theater Arts Section, performs complex and diverse duties in support of the Section Head, the faculty, and headquarters as determined by the Section Head and Director of Administration and Finance (DAF). Position requires minimal supervision and ability to complete projects by setting and organizing priorities according to deadlines. Initiative and ability to make independent decisions using discretion and confidentiality is required. Must proactively interpret and resolve various situations and problems. Greet visitors and respond to inquiries, assisting in creating a welcoming and well-organized office environment.

REQUIRED: Minimum three years’ administrative, office, or related experience; excellent organizational, interpersonal, project management, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; discretion and judgment with confidential information; experience managing complex calendars, travel arrangements, and logistics for meetings/events; and advanced-level technical and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and shared document environments (e.g., SharePoint, Dropbox, and Google docs).  Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities, demanding time frames, and limited supervision; and effectively communicate with all levels of faculty, staff, and students. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; administrative experience at a higher education institution, preferably MIT; and experience working for senior leaders.

Pay range (Grade 5): $22.37 - 30.60/hour; starting pay commensurate with experience.

Occasional weekday evening and weekend work will be required.
