Job Description:

Ability to provide a supportive and positive classroom climate that enables each student to develop the skills and knowledge as outlined in the Individualize Education Plan (IEP) including:

• Knowledge and understanding of child development
• Knowledge of children with exceptionalities and developmental delays
• Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and classroom management for students with exceptionalities
• Knowledge of and ability to develop an inclusive environment for students with disabilities
• Knowledge of effective methods of assessment and progress monitoring
• Ability to write, plan, and implement Individual Education Plans (IEP)
• Knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding students with disabilities
• Ability to relate and work well with students, parents, staff, administration, and the community
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
