Laboratory Technician Intern

Job Summary

  • Assists with preparing laboratory solutions following site procedures.
  • Operates and maintains all equipment as per established procedures.
  • Ensures that equipment and working areas are maintained with good safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Accurately documents all necessary and relevant information in a clear and concise manner as per cGMPs, GLP, DEA, and company policies and procedures.
  • Assists with handling/disposal of laboratory waste.
  • Administers all aspects of organizing, cleaning, sterilizing and storing of laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory of required supplies and chemicals by performing a variety of routine chemical inventory functions such as:  logging-in, labeling and storing chemicals, reagents and solutions, inspecting for and removing expired chemicals, reagents and solutions.
  • Communicates openly within the group to provide and gather information, to optimize the use of resources and to optimize efficiency.
  • Provides assistance to other group members as required.
  • Performs other related assignments and duties as required and assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

High school graduate.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer skills required to complete SOP training, order chemicals and supplies and maintain ordering spreadsheets.
  • The ability to organize work priorities to meet schedule deadlines.
  • Good organizational and team skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills/analytical troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of good documentation/laboratory practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities (if Applicable)

The Laboratory Technician Intern has no direct reports.  

Physical and Environmental

  • Occasionally, transport materials using manual, and power assisted vehicles including manually pushing and pulling drums, totes, boxes, and pallets.
  • Frequently push, lift and maneuver boxes and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work standard schedule of 10.5 hours a day, Monday-Thursday and overtime as needed.
