Director of Technology

 

Summary or Purpose:

The Director of Technology provides leadership for the District’s technology tools, systems, policies, budget and promotes efficiency, effectiveness, and security in the operations. 

 

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Superintendent of Schools.  Works collaboratively with Cabinet members and has relationships with all Administrators and key stakeholders.  Interacts with the Board of School Directors.  All technology support staff report to this position including: Technology HelpDesk staff, Director of Systems and reporting and Director of Network Administration. 

 

Terms of Employment:

Act 93 Administration

 

Qualifications:

Possesses knowledge of technology implementation, management and processes through education and experience in similar settings/roles/organizations. 

Should possess knowledge in the following areas: 

 

Protecting Privacy in Connected Learning

Cybersecurity

Digital Accessibility

Interoperability

IT Crisis Preparedness

SEND (Smart Education Networks by Design)

Smart IT: Strategic Technology Planning and Investment

Data Driven Decision Making

Leadership for Digital Learning

Instructional and Educational Technology

 

COSN CETL certification preferred but not required

 

Physical and Ability Requirements:

Must be able to articulate verbally and have adequate mobility. Sedentary to moderate work environment

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Key performance expectations include:

  1. Lead the technology department by supervising, developing, and guiding staff including Administrators and AFSCME unionized staff
  2. Develop staff for best performance and continued to ensure high quality systems performance throughout the district’s operations and teaching and learning programs
  3. Use an A-ROI model to regularly assess and evaluate the district’s investment in technology to be making the transformative change in the teaching and learning
  4. Champion district initiatives to engage in change efforts to explore, implement, and sustain innovative models for teaching and learning (ex. GM Gold, Customized Learning, Internships, Innovation Curriculum, Alternative Pathways to College and Career Readiness)
  5. Partner with the Director of Data Management Systems to create a robust mechanism in which the district can regularly access underused data points to engage in inquiry and analysis for systems improvement
  6. Manage all aspects of Technology budget
  7. Provides management of all leases, purchases, etc. for District technology
  8. Owns and leads all aspects of technology and cyber security for the District
  9. Implements all operational policies related to technology devices, hardware, software and processes
