Coding Instructor - Summer Camp

STEM4kids has been providing technology-focused Camps and Classes for students and we have loved and achieved every moment of it. Our offerings include summer and winter break program and school year enrichment courses.

Our Mission is to encourage and enhance learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and other subjects to ensure children receive an excellent education that opens doors for them to new and better career opportunities and more fulfilling, successful lives.

Position Description

We have immediate summer openings for PART time or FULL time lead instructors, or instructors (college students in ANY major) and assistant instructors (high school seniors). Many locations available in South Bay, East Bay and Peninsula. If hired you will attend online training sessions and one in person session, review camp training prior to start of camp.

Job start from 10th June - 14th Aug 2024

Job Responsibilities

  • Show up reliably early or on time
  • You will be responsible for camp set-up, camp clean up
  • You will ensure of camper safety, parent communication, excellent course delivery and ensure campers meet learning objectives
  • Complete training to be able to teach and/or supervise teaching of camp curriculum
  • Inspire 5.5-14yr olds in group setting while maintaining a joyful vibe
  • Maintain safe, clean and positive classroom environment
  • Produce high quality educational and fun programs including games, pitch/hack contests, lunch and afternoon “team-building” activities
  • Communicate effectively, professionally and consistently with parents, colleagues, supervisor and partners (facility, service and activity partners) to ensure parents’ delight
  • Make sure all camp supplies and class material, computers, projectors, and other supplies are in good condition, setup correctly, later accounted for, organized and returned
  • Be eager to learn new educational concepts and tools
  • Have a can do attitude to ensure that the camp is a success with parents, campers, partner facility managers and the community

Requirements

  • Current college students in Any Major
  • Teaching experience is a plus
  • High school seniors or returning Leaders in training can apply for assistant instructor
  • Business, computer science and STEM majors encouraged to apply.
  • Experience teaching youth in a group setting is strongly preferred
  • Passion for teaching and developing young minds
  • Fluency in English
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Excellent and engaging presentation skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Must be able to stand, walk, run, lift and carry heavy boxes of handouts and supply.
  • Fingerprint, background checks and TB test are required.
  • Committing to teaching multiple weeks and ideally entire 6wk session is preferred
  • Must have reliable computer & smartphone for consistent access to internet at all times
  • Must already have arranged for summer housing and have reliable car or transportation
  • Instructor will be issued class material, computers, projectors, and other supplies and will be responsible for returning these equipment and supplies in excellent condition

Qualified applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following areas -

- Programming in Java, and Python.

- Game Making with Scratch.

Compensation / Benefits

  • Compensation depending on experience
  • Paid training
  • Performance bonus available

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Schedule:
