Junior Marketing Designer - Part-Time

Reporting to the Director of Marketing Design and Operations, the part-time Marketing Designer is responsible for producing print and online marketing materials, including but not limited to social media assets, ads, and the covers for advance reading copies; interacting with the marketing team on deciding the visuals or animations; and coordinating with other people in the creative department as well as in other departments for trafficking of materials. The designer must be able to contribute ideas, work collaboratively, and meet multiple deadlines. This position requires an individual who is highly organized, self-motivated and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

 

Duties:

Design and produce publicity, marketing, and other materials:

  • Work with the marketing teams to design and produce promotional marketing materials (including but not limited to bookmarks, posters, postcards, etc.) as well as seasonal advance reading copies yearly

Design and produce advertisements:

  • Design print and online advertisements for books, in coordination with the Director of Marketing Design and Operations
  • Work with publications to submit ads according to specs
  • Maintains flexibility and awareness of changes and needs in the organization by assuming similar duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of design experience with 1 to 2 years of book publishing or related design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or related field; OR two (2) years related experience; OR equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite on a Mac platform
  • Understanding of basic social media (Instagram, X, Facebook)
  • Good communication skills
  • Understanding of visual hierarchy; ability to translate large bodies of text and information into easily digestible layouts.
  • Ability to try new things, experimenting with alternate concepts and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to communicate ideas to co-workers through a combination of spoken word, rapid prototyping, and digital communication.

 

Location

All candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area and be able to commute to our NY headquarters on a hybrid-remote schedule.
