Academy Award-nominated director/producer Matia Karrell’s production company, The Red Door Films, is seeking an Assistant Editing Intern for Summer 2024. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn the key aspects of documentary production and assist producers with their work during post-production of Coming Home: Fight For A Legacy, the first-ever feature-length documentary about the Women Airforce Service Pilots, unsung heroes of WWII.
Key responsibilities include working with the post-production team to assemble daily string-outs and selects. You may also be asked to transport and hand off hard drives. The Assistant Editor Intern will work closely with the Archival team, occasionally helping with research and logging material.
Qualifications:
- Able to give 15+ hours a week
- Must be proficient in Adobe Premiere
- Must be based in Los Angeles
- Knowledge of AirTable preferred but not necessary
- Proficiency in Google Suite
- High level of organization and time management
- Detail-oriented
- Positive, supportive, and professional
- Self-motivated and independent
- Always up for learning and trying new things
This is a remote unpaid internship for school credit. However, you must be based in Los Angeles so we can transfer and hand off hard drives with you. Hours are flexible, but looking for a minimum commitment of 15+ hours/week. The expected start date is April, but the date is flexible.
This internship will give you a hands-on understanding of documentary filmmaking, editing, producing, and production management. Through this mentorship program, you will connect with women who want you to succeed and will guide you along the way. Seeking enthusiastic candidates with strong computer skills who are highly organized, self-starters, and curious about all facets of the film production process.
