Technical Writer

Teradyne’s Integrated System Test Group is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and results-driven technical writer to provide world-class documentation support for its products.  Teradyne produces complex electro-mechanical test equipment, so this role requires an interest in documenting complicated technical equipment for internal and external users. 

Job location: North Reading, MA

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, detailed text about intricate technical topics (samples required)
  • Experience photographing technical equipment and/or creating descriptive images
  • Skill with industry-standard technical writing tools such as MadCap Flare, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Snagit (or their equivalents)
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams or similar software
  • Ability to adhere to a style guide
  • Eagerness to work on multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Scrupulous organization and attention to detail
  • Desire to work with diverse team members in our local factory and across the world
  • BA/BS degree in technical writing/communications/English or similar fields


Responsibilities

  • Create instructions for new installations as well as maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures for existing products
  • Reorganize, edit, and update manuals, notices, and bulletins for internal and external users
  • Absorb raw technical information from diverse sources and communicate it clearly and accurately
  • Proactively identify and interview SMEs from disciplines including hardware, software, robotics, and others
  • Coordinate discussions between multiple sources and quickly document the resolution of pressing factory and customer issues
  • Advocate for technical writing best practices while reviewing and peer editing documents
  • Participate in required meetings, including some outside of typical work hours
  • Travel expectations are less than 5% of work requirements

 

Note: Depending on the requirements of each writing project and the skillset of the candidate, occasional remote work may be possible in this role. However, applicants must be willing to commute to North Reading, Massachusetts, five days a week as needed.
