Job Title: Data Analyst Intern (Summer Internship)

 

Position Summary:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation (“MJFF”) is seeking a Data Analyst Intern.  The Intern will assist the Fundraising Analytics team in analyzing data, developing data pipelines, and creating dashboards within our business intelligence platform. This role will deliver actionable insights to enhance our data governance practices. We are seeking a technically skilled, detailed-oriented, multi-tasking, and collaborative intern with basic knowledge of analytical and data visualization tools, and ability to learn in a short period of time. This role offers an exciting opportunity to hone your analytical skills while gaining a full picture of how analytics fits into the operations of the organization.

The Data Analyst Intern will be expected to have a hybrid-flex work schedule with at least part-time in the MJFF office in midtown New York City.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

As a Data Analyst Intern, you will be responsible for analyzing large datasets and providing data-driven recommendations to optimize business outcomes. This internship offers hands-on experience in data analysis, data pipeline development, and utilization of visualization tools. 

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Assist Fundraising Analytics team in designing and updating data governance dashboards to ensure effective data management practices
  • Gain proficiency in understanding BI data structure to create data pipelines and generate reports for tracking data stack usage. Establish performance metrics to identify areas for review, cleanup, and optimization.
  • Lead view analysis project to understand user behavior and provide actionable recommendations on optimizing dashboards for more engaged reporting experience
  • Collaborate on auditing and cleaning up user access permissions for reports and dashboards within the BI system
  • Provide support for other development data governance initiatives as needed

 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in related field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and draw insights from complex datasets
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Basic understanding of data pipeline development and data governance principles
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Domo, or Power BI is a strong plus
  • Experience in SQL, Python, R, Redshift, or any querying/programming language is preferred

Salary:

The hourly range for this position is: 

  • Undergraduate Students: $15-$18/hour
  • Graduate Students: $18-$20/hour
