Food Processing Energy Analyst

Are you interested in an impactful career in clean energy? California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring an Energy Analyst (EA) in the Food Production Investment Unit of the Energy Research and Development Division (ERDD). Our EA will serve as part of a team to assist in the planning and implementation of Research and Development (R&D) programs. The EA conducts work of average difficulty on consultative and analytical assignments such as R&D planning, R&D grant management, information sharing, stakeholder engagement, events coordination, and R&D project and program evaluation. The EA assists with a variety of analytical tasks in support of activities supporting reducing carbon emissions and electric grid impacts in food processing facilities.

Our Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD) deploys over $300 million annually to advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state’s clean energy and climate change policies including but not limited to the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management.

** Telework option is available, but candidates must reside in California before starting ** 


Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Project and program management experience.
  • Interest in emerging clean energy technologies related to food production or processing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to effectively write and edit technical program information. 
  • Ability to use a variety of analytical techniques. 
  • Ability to learn and apply project management principles.
