Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about the environment to join the Southwest Region Environmental Services team in Vancouver, WA. The Biologist/Environmental Permitting Specialist will directly support the transportation needs of Washington State and be a part of the exciting work WSDOT is doing to meet environmental stewardship goals. The successful candidate in this interdisciplinary role of Biologist and Environmental Permit Coordinator will serve as the environmental representative for projects to support scoping, design, construction, and post-construction efforts to meet Endangered Species Act, NEPA, SEPA, Clean Water Act and other environmental regulatory reviews and permitting requirements. This position will also serve as a biology technical expert and will evaluate the effects of construction and operation of transportation facilities on plant communities, fish, wildlife, and threatened and endangered species and their habitats and will be responsible for conducting assessments related to terrestrial and aquatic biological resources (ESA, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Magnuson Stevens Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and others). Our top candidate must have advanced collaboration and communication skills as this position communicates with many project partners including Tribal Governments; Federal, State, and Local Agencies and Project Engineering Design and Construction Offices.
