Ball State University seeks candidates for an Assistant Director of Health Promotion and Advocacy. Health Promotion and Advocacy (HPA) provides inclusive health and well-being education, prevention, and survivor-centered support. This position will contribute to HPA and Ball State University by coordinating health and wellbeing outreach and educational materials for the campus community; assessing campus health and wellbeing needs; evaluating services; and working collaboratively with campus and community stakeholders to meet the health and wellbeing needs of the students.

Position Function: The Assistant Director of Health Promotion and Advocacy, working under the leadership of the Director of Health Promotion and Advocacy, is responsible for coordinating evidence-informed health promotion programs, presentations, initiatives, and educational materials for various constituencies throughout the university community. The Assistant Director monitors national trends and helps to ensure that relevant outreach, educational programming and resources are provided to meet the needs of the campus community This involves assessing campus health and well-being needs, collaborating with campus and community stakeholders, and evaluating services to address these needs. Some evening and weekend hours expected.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Public Health, or other human service-related discipline from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience: Demonstrated commitment to health and wellbeing; demonstrated skills in quality customer service; experience with Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education: Advanced degree in public health, health promotion, health education, or other related discipline from an accredited institution.

Preferred Experience: At least two years of experience in a university-based health services program, Student Affairs department, health center, or wellness institute; public speaking experience and skills; evidence of research and scholarly activity and ability.

Preferred Other: Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity; excellent interpersonal, intrapersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; excellent organizational, relationship, and analytical skills; ability to perform all job duties. Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH) designations (or be eligible and intend to become certified).

Pay Range: The minimum salary for this position is $42,000.
