Content Producer 

WLNE -TV/ABC6, Standard Media’s ABC affiliate in beautiful downtown Providence, Rhode Island is looking for a full-time Content Producer.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned media professional who can create, write, produce, curate and publish articles and other content for all ABC6 platforms. 

Responsibilities:

--Lead the shift in the NOW strategy across all platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, newsgathering, dispatching crews, creating/writing/posting content across the digital platforms (such as the NOW app, website, news app, social media platforms, among others), communicating logistics and story details to the newsroom. 

-Create content across all ABC6 platforms. 

–Research, write, edit and publish time-sensitive local, regional and national news content, with a focus on clarity, fairness, legality, spelling, grammar punctuation and style.

–Manage postings on the station’s social media platforms. This includes approving and publishing content that comes in via the NOW app.

--Communicate with newsroom about available content posted to the NOW app by citizen journalists.

--Monitor scanners, social media and other sources for breaking news; make calls to confirm information; create contacts in the community; communicate with contacts to gather news 

--Strategize push alerts to draw audience to ABC6’s digital platforms. 

--Post daily assignments for NOW app users. 

--Assist with court pool logistics.

--Assign field crews to stories and breaking news; keep in contact with crews as stories develop, serving as a point person between the newsroom and the field

--Win breaking news and breaking weather. 

–Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

–Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines throughout the day.

–Strong digital publishing skills including a solid understanding of SEO concepts, AP style, headline-writing and basic HTML.

–Familiarity with WordPress, Adobe CS, Google Analytics 4 and/or other industry standard tools, as well.

–Organized and detailed-oriented.

–Strong collaboration and communication skills.

–Knowledge of a working newsroom.

–Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or similar field preferred.

–A team player who is willing to jump in and assist when needed.
