About the Opportunity

FamilyAid (FA) is Greater Boston’s leading provider of solutions to family homelessness. Its mission is to empower parents and caregivers facing homelessness to secure and sustain housing and build strong foundations for their children’s futures.

The hundred-plus year-old agency has launched bold new strategies to reduce two-generation

homelessness by dramatically increasing its prevention, housing, and supportive services for children and parents, putting the organization on a fast-growth trajectory.

To support these strategies, the agency seeks dynamic, driven student interns to contribute to the agency’s work with homeless families with children. The Data Research and Evaluation Intern will be responsible for creating meaningful analysis of agency data to support strategical program design, monitoring, and improvement; and for related administrative tasks of the department.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Program Officer and Data Analyst, the Intern will design and carry out data

analyses based on concepts developed collaboratively with the Data, Research and Evaluation Specialist, design and oversee targeted program evaluations using best practices in the field, and prepare such evaluations for discussion under the leadership of the Senior Program Officer, Performance and Evaluation. The ideal candidate will be analytically focused, highly organized with a keen eye for detail, as well as personable and driven by a passionate interest to for children and families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Data mining to determine funding eligibility for clients and programs

• Competence in R or comparable programming language

• Assist in build out of service and results dashboard to be shared organization wide

• Collaborate with members of the department as well as program and agency leadership in formalizing conclusions from the analysis.

• Produce and ready for publishing visualizations of the data analyses.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in Bachelor or Master degree program

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience in analytics/data quality and evaluation

• Exhibits humility through the learning process and can accept feedback.

• Flexibility and compassion essential.

• Proficient troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and requests simultaneously.

Location and Work Conditions: This position is currently hybrid due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Remote/In Person schedule to be discussed with hiring manager (Senior Program Officer and Data)

FamilyAid’s vaccine policy requires all new employees and interns to be fully vaccinated against Covid- 19, including eligible booster doses, at the time of hire or start of internship.

Work Schedule: Dependent on school requirements, to be discussed with supervisor and school contact. Days and hours to be determined, with the flexibility to best meet program needs.
