TEACHER/TEACHING ASSISTANT
Little People's College Requirements:
- Must love children and be able to relate to them.
- Must be able to relate to adults on all levels of the socioeconomic structure of the community.
- Must be agile enough to perform the job and keep small children safe.
- Must be willing to continually further education in accordance with professional development plan.
- Must be able to work as a team member with all other staff at the center.
An assistant teacher is responsible for assisting the teacher in executing the program plan and/or executing the plan in her absence. Duties include:
- Supervising children by sight and sound AT ALL TIMES throughout the day
- Assisting with ensuring the welfare, health and safety of the children.
- Acknowledging each child by name and with a smile when he/she arrives and leaves.
- Interacting appropriately with children throughout the day.
- Assisting in executing all classroom and outdoor activities.
- Supervising bathroom use.
- Assisting in all mealtime activities.
- Attending monthly staff meetings.
- Furthering job knowledge by attending workshops, conferences, college courses and/ or in-service trainings.
- Taking turns in cleaning bathrooms including floors.
- Attending mandatory events such as Parent Nights and Graduation.
- Maintaining all required documents and trainings: First Aid, CPR, EEC Essentials, Nutrition, Cleaning, Long Orientation (and subsequent annual updates), Prototype Handbook Training, and appropriate medical documentation of shots and a physical.
- Committing to completion of or actively enrolled in a teacher’s course within one year (from date of hire).
- Participating in a minimum of one-hour community service to a child-related or otherwise approved cause.
- Performing any other duty necessary to ensure that LPC is run according to LPC standards.
A teacher at Little People's College is responsible for planning and executing an educational and developmentally appropriate program aligned with LPC educational goals and beliefs.
Duties include:
- Preparing a monthly curriculum geared to the development of the children submitted to the curriculum specialist on the designated day.
- Taking turns in cleaning bathrooms including floors.
- Acknowledging each child as he/she arrives or leaves.
- Executing the curriculum including outdoor activities.
- Taking responsibility for the welfare, health and safety of the children.
- Supervising children including in the bathroom and handwashing afterwards.
- Training and constructive utilization of teacher assistant.
- Attending all staff meetings.
- Maintaining and submitting all required reports pertaining to group, including child reports (index cards or note pages).
- Attending parent conferences.
- Attending workshops, conferences, and all in-service training.
- Working with other staff in cleaning Center thoroughly.
- Maintaining and updating his/her file by attending required training’s, and maintaining required certifications.
- Participating in any other duty necessary to insure LPC is run according to LPC standards.
