Intern – Website Maintenance and Data Analytics (Summer)

The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) works with all levels of government to solve problems and plan for burgeoning regional growth. With partners and residents, NCTCOG practices strategic planning to improve the quality of life and collaborative transportation planning in the North Central Texas region.

The Transportation Department is seeking a summer Intern to support and contribute to the Department’s community outreach and communications efforts related to transportation projects and programs. The student in this position will work on web management and analysis systems, while balancing a passion for big-picture systematic thinking with a keen eye for detail. Ideal candidates should possess a passion for user experience, user design, and web design/development. Ideal candidates should live within the Dallas-Fort Worth region and be able to work at least 25 hours a week from approximately mid-May to mid-August 2024. Continuing employment opportunities may be available for Interns who are successful in this position.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting with updates to web pages and other related documents
  • Drafting website, social media, and publication content
  • Assisting with updates to web media and digital compositions using Adobe Suites
  • Assisting with research and use of analytic platforms including, but not limited to, Google Suite, and Siteimprove
  • Updating and managing contact lists and reports
  • Working with supervisor to produce weekly reports that document project success
  • Serving as a representative of NCTCOG’s goals and mission

Required Skills

  • Ability to assess historical actions, interpret communications, compile documentation, and summarize findings
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment
  • No work experience required

Starting Salary

Minimum of $16.00 per hour


The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by, and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. Since 1974, NCTCOG has served as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and is responsible for developing transportation plans and programs that address the complex needs of the rapidly growing area. The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise.
