Associate, Risk Management Specialist

Job Title: Risk Management Specialist

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Analysis and review of the NY Loans Portfolio, and other credit assets booked or to be booked at the branch.
  • Update, maintain credit files.
  • Ensure the branch has implemented a Borrower Risk Rating System that complies with both US and Chilean regulation.
  • Calculating the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses making sure it complies with OCC (US) regulation, US GAAP (as applicable), and SBIF (Chile) regulation. 
  • Ensure the branch is within legal lending limits, as defined by domestic regulation, and by articles 84 and 85 of the Chilean General Banking Law, as well as any internal limits, such as Country Risk Limits, as defined by the appropriate Credit Committee
  • Planning, executing, and monitoring the annual operational risk plan, implementation of an Operational Risk matrix, implementation of a Risk Event response cycle, and ensure new products comply with internal policy.
  • Implementation of a Business Impact Analysis tool, RIA, and governance over Business Continuity policies.
  • Shared responsibilities over the Vendor Management risk policies
  • Prepare New Products Committee, Asset Quality Committee, and US Risk Committees.

 

General Responsibilities Shared within the Department

  • Propose or assist in the enhancement of monitoring systems, procedures, and relevant workflows.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of risk assessments for new products.
  • Support regular team functions.
  • Adhere to Itaú Chile New York policy of strict compliance with BSA / USA Patriot Act

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in credit risk management
  • Experience performing or evaluating risk assessments.
  • Strong accounting technical skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage several projects at the same time.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English

 

Preferences

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or CFA / CPA
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Technology oriented, with high proficiency in Excel and Tableau
  • Proficiency in Portuguese
