Resource Assistant Program Summer '24 - Law Enforcement

The Resource Assistants Internship is a rigorous and immersive, paid internship for individuals who are interested in public safety and protection of the lands and resources managed by the Forest Service and have primary responsibilities of the agency’s law enforcement program. Working alongside Law Enforcement and Investigations staff, interns will help with projects related to the protection of resources, enforcement of laws, and investigation of crimes committed on lands managed by the Forest Service. Interns will interact with other Federal, State, and local law enforcement partners, as well as other first responders. Day-to-day duties and responsibilities will vary according to location.

The program engages students, recent graduates, and underrepresented populations helping the Forest Service to attract and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce and carry out mission-critical work.

  • 8-12 month program
  • $750 weekly stipend
  • $1000 per month housing allowance

Eligibility

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. 

Applicants must be a current full-time student or a recent graduate (within 2 years) for/with a degree, preferably in criminal justice or natural resources. 

Applicants should be able to work in outdoor settings, including mountains, lakes, rivers, and other dispersed areas. Applicants should be very outgoing and able to interact with various ethnic/racial groups.
