Sports Specialist

Summary

BASEC seeks a Sports Specialist for BASEC @ Maynard in Maynard, MA. BASEC is a non-profit, out-of-school time organization that offers innovative programs in a setting intentionally designed to foster young people’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.

As a Sports Specialist, you will have the opportunity to inspire sportsmanship, teamwork, resiliency, and agency in students; create and implement curriculum that challenges and engages; make meaningful connections with stakeholders from throughout the community; and work with colleagues that share the important goal of creating engaged citizens in Maynard, Massachusetts.

We are seeking creative and inventive candidates with a passion for working with youth to join our tenured teaching team. You will contribute to the site’s culture and play a key role in building an environment where children thrive.

As a Sports Specialist at BASEC, you will:

  • Design and implement rich out-of-school time programming;
  • Develop workshops and projects in sports, as well as specialized content for integration in BASEC’s daily programming;
  • Coordinate with the Site Director to plan special events and enrichment activities;
  • Lead BASEC programming for students every day;
  • With the Site Director, serve as a contact for parents regarding students’ skill-building and developmental growth achieved through participation in BASEC learning experiences;
  • Participate regularly in developmental programming to remain current on trends in the field.

An ideal candidate would be/have

  • Energetic and compassionate;
  • A background in sports;
  • A growth mindset and openness to embracing feedback;
  • Willingness to create and collaborate with BASEC colleagues;
  • Strong organization skills;
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Google Suite;
  • An education background and/or experience in out-of-school time field;
  • At minimum, a Bachelor’s degree;

Compensation/Benefits

  • Paid Time Off: Accrue three PTO days at the start of each fiscal year (prorated for your start date for this 2023 – 2024 fiscal year) and thereafter accrue two days of PTO at the end of each month worked;
  • Paid days off for 13 national/state holidays;
  • Membership (optional) in our health insurance group with BASEC contribution of 75% and accompanying HRA benefit of 50% reimbursement of any health insurance deductible expenses;
  • Membership (optional) in our dental insurance group with BASEC contribution of 50%;
  • Membership (optional) in Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plan (option available at the start of each fiscal year, September 1);
  • Employer-paid life, long-term disability, and short-term disability insurance;
  • Optional participation in BASEC’s 401k retirement savings plan;
  • Up to $1,000.00 in tuition reimbursement annually.
