Dual Language and Multilingual Learning Supervisor (MA4) - Olympia

To be eligible for this position, you must pass a DCYF language certification test within your first 6 months of employment. There is an additional 5% assignment pay for dual language based on the successful completion of the Language Certification Test.

The Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is looking for a Multilingual Learning Supervisor to coordinate efforts that advance professional preparation and development of the early learning workforce. This role will have an emphasis on children who are Dual Language Learners (DLL) and the systems and needs that impact them. The Opportunity:
In this role, you will partner with state and community agencies to create aligned system procedures and practices in support of dual language learner needs within a comprehensive professional development delivery system for early learning.

Some of what you will do:
 

  • Establish project timelines, develop documents, engage stakeholders, set deliverables and monitor outcomes.
  • Create project documents to achieve an integrated professional development system for DCYF.
  • Interface with multiple programs with highly complex responsibilities and working knowledge.
  • Plan and execute strategies and processes for agency programs with professional development components to achieve intended outcomes for DLL.
  • Provide consultative assistance on special projects that intersect with DLL professional development.
  • Facilitate work groups related to professional development pathways that integrates DLL, including specializations.
  • Increase the number of early care and education providers with knowledge and skills to support dual language and multilingual learners and their needs.
  • Establish policies, forms, training projections and applications with emphasis on supporting dual language and multilingual learning.


Required qualifications:
Ability to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish fluently for providing interpretation and translation to clients. Employee must be certified, proficient, and provide certification to perform duty. Certification must be obtained within 6 months of appointment AND one of the following options: 

A Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or Education with a concentration in Bilingual Education or Multicultural Education, AND four years of experience working with diverse communities, analyzing and implementing policy and system practices and program implementation.
OR
An Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Education with a concentration in Bilingual Education or Multicultural Education, AND six years of experience working with diverse communities, analyzing and implementing policy and system practices and program implementation.
AND 
Experience working in a public or nonprofit agency in a role that included coordination and facilitation of stakeholder and partner workgroups supporting dual language and multilingual adult learning.
OR
Equivalent education and experience totaling eight years.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
 

  • Knowledge and professional experience of dual language programming in early learning settings and environments.
  • Knowledge and professional experience of adult learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in research, data collection and evaluation processes.
  • Demonstrated Experience working with professional development registry systems.
  • Knowledge of child care licensing program policies and early childhood education, as well as federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated Ability to write policy standards, procedures and contracts.
